Rhythm & Roots Landscaping is a full-service landscape design, construction, and maintenance company serving San Luis Obispo County and surrounding coastal communities.

We create Mediterranean-inspired, drought-tolerant, and native landscapes designed specifically for California’s Central Coast climate, blending thoughtful plant selection, natural stone, custom pavers, and clean architectural lines.

About the Owner.

Rhythm & Roots is led by founder Braden Lloyd. Braden approaches each project with a focus on balance, flow, and long-term performance. He remains actively involved throughout the design and construction process to ensure every detail reflects the original vision.

Braden discovered his passion for the landscaping trade in 1997 and fell in love with it immediately. While attending school, he dedicated himself to learning every aspect of the craft, working with several respected local companies that specialized in different areas of landscaping. After gaining a strong foundation in those specialties, he decided it was time to start his own company—one with no creative boundaries and rooted in passion.

While completing his associate degree at Cuesta College and later studying Horticulture with a focus on Landscape Design at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Braden launched his business. In 2009, he earned his contractor’s license and has been designing and building landscapes ever since.

Today, Braden is supported by his wife, two sons, and an incredible team. He’s especially proud that his very first employee remains an integral part of the crew to this day.

Our home had worn out landscaping and we wanted to improve our curb appeal. We contacted Rhythm and Roots and the owner, Braden Lloyd, came by to assess things. We let him know our budget limitations and he came back with options. They used our Meyer Lemon Tree as a focal point and built a beautiful rock wall using local rock. New plants were installed, drip irrigation, and our landscaping rock was reinstalled. We are very happy with the final outcome. Braden came by often to check on things during the work.
